1. Talk - Dave Pratt - Gromit Room (4th floor SU) - Tuesday 15th - 6:30pm
This talk will be of a more informal style, Dave Pratt will bring along his favourite photos to discuss and encourages members to do the same. Dave is a local photographer who makes a living from advertisement photography. In a world where advertising and websites are increasingly picture led, Dave seeks to make his pictures as creative as possible. He shoots everything from schools to models, landscapes to health care institutions. This is a great talk for anyone looking to make a career out of photography or learning how to make interesting photos out of mundane everyday situations.

2. BTP Social - Boston Tea Party, Park Street - 18th April - 5pm
There will be a social at BTP this Wednesday (18th April) at 5pm - come along to talk photography and bring with you anything you'd like to chat about (cameras and photos welcome) - it would be lovely to see as many faces as possible because this is the penultimate social for this year!

3. Darkroom
Hello,

A new project has started in the darkroom where we as a group vote every month on a new cover photo for the group. Just post your photos on the pinned post each month (black & white or color does not matter, as long as it developed by you in the darkroom) and the one with the most votes becomes the new cover photo. Make sure to comment with any developing information for all to learn.

Secondly, the Folk House Cafe is running an analog photography competition for anyone and everyone. All you need to do is dev, print, and frame a photo by the 30th of March and the winners will be on display in the Folk House exhibition on the 10th of May.

For any more information on either of these, if you want to talk dev, printing, or scanning, get into film photography for the first time, or just chat about analog photography send me an email at darkroom@ubuphotosoc.com.

Week 21 Portrait: Faceless
We hope that everyone had a great Easter break! For this week’s challenge we are looking for faceless portraits, try and convey as much of your subject through your image without capturing their face.
Take inspiration from the many examples you can find online – these articles might be a good place to start looking! (https://www.lightstalking.com/faceless-portrait/) (https://mymodernmet.com/chris-ozer-faceless-portraits/).

To enter send your photos to competitions@ubuphotosoc.com.

5. Berlin
Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Pete for organising the Berlin trip! It seems to have been a massive success from all the photos I've seen on facebook!

We are still looking for a trips officer to join the 2018/19 committee so if you are interested please contact me - president@ubuphotosoc.com
